Here's a simplified overview of Windmill Microlending's eligibility criteria for immigrants with permanent status or Canadian citizenship in Canada:
Immigration Status: Eligible if you have any of the below status:
- Permanent Permanent Residents with valid COPR document and/or PR card
- Protected Person/ Convention Refugee with a Notice of Decision,
- Temporary Residents under the Provincial Nominee Program with a valid Confirmation of Provincial Nomination document and letter of acceptance from Citizenship and Immigration Canada
- Canadian Citizen with a valid citizenship certificate.
Ineligible immigration statuses include: student visas, work visas, temporary foreign workers, live-in caregivers, or refugee claimants.
International Experience: Internationally trained individuals who have completed post- secondary education internationally and/or have a minimum of one year of post-secondary work experience
Arrival in Canada: Must have immigrated to Canada.
Financial Situation: An applicant must not have an undischarged bankruptcy or an active consumer proposal less than six months old from the date of application.
Special Considerations:
- People in Quebec needing help with credential recognition have different rules.
- Temporary work permit holders are only eligible if they reside in Quebec. This is subject to different terms and assessment.
- Windmill also considers Canadian citizens with substantial international experience and significant time living outside Canada.
