Eligibility Criteria for a Windmill Loan

Here's a simplified overview of Windmill Microlending's eligibility criteria for immigrants with permanent status or Canadian citizenship in Canada:

  1. Immigration Status: Eligible if you are a Permanent Resident, Protected Person, Convention Refugee, Provincial Nominee, or Canadian Citizen.
  2. International Experience: Qualify if you are trained in another country and need support with licenses, training, or career relocation. Even with one year of international work experience before coming to Canada, you can apply.
  3. Arrival in Canada: Must have immigrated to Canada to qualify for assistance.
  4. Financial Situation: Past financial challenges don't affect eligibility, but undischarged bankruptcies disqualify applicants.

Special Considerations:

  • People in Quebec needing help with credential recognition have different rules.
  • Temporary work permit holders are only eligible if their address is in Quebec.
  • Windmill also considers Canadian citizens with substantial international experience and significant time living outside Canada.

Note: International students with study permits are not eligible.
